I used to be that person who said she would never get a tattoo. Not that I had anything against them, I like them on other people, I just remember getting anxiety thinking of having ink on my body for the rest of my life. The idea of never being able take it off like you would with clothes or jewelry was just unnerving to me. Of course, I got older and since I was 18, maybe, tattoos started to gain it's appeal to me. Small or delicate tattoos were just so pretty and up my alley. Delicate and dainty, those were my key words. I almost got one last summer with some girls at a previous job, and thank goodness I didn't because I was NERVOUS. The one I originally wanted, I'm glad I didn't get on a whim like that. But one of my options in my head from that summer was a rose, and if you look at my tattoo pinterest board they were almost all roses. I then realized what a flower reminded me of: my dad. A quirky thing about him is how much he loves flowers, like he takes selfies with them and we have a pretty garden in our backyard because of it. It's something my family loves about him, and when I asked him what his favorite was he said, a rose. I knew if I was for sure getting a tattoo this would be it.
I wanted a tattoo on my 20th birthday because it was the start of THE era. My twenties. Twenties is about having fun, life changing experiences, struggles, finding who you are, and really transitioning into an adult. Most shows are based off characters in their twenties. This tattoo was a little hoorah into a decade I know I won't forget. She's cute, she's here, she's a little rose.
